Environmental Impact Statement

Posh Papoose® is committed to reducing our environmental impact wherever possible without sacrificing the stellar quality of our service and quality.

As of Jan 2008, we are purchasing carbon offsets from  Nativeenergy.com and CoolDriver.org, two related Green-e certified organizations that partner with Native American councils to produce renewable energy with wind and methane projects.

We are also adding 100% Bamboo and Bamboo/Cotton blends to our collection. Bamboo is really soft, anti-microbial, wicking, and odor-resistant, but it's also a very eco-friendly fiber.

According to our supplier, Bamboo "thrives naturally without using any pesticides. The entire distilling and producing process of the bamboo plant is a green process without any pollution. It produces natural and eco-friendly fiber without any chemical additives. Bamboo fiber is praised as 'the natural, green, and eco-friendly new-type textile material of 21st century.' Bamboo takes in five times the volume of greenhouse gases as an equivalent stand of timber trees and releases 35% more oxygen. It needs no replanting, pesticides or fertilizers, and its roots retain water in the watershed, sustaining riverbanks and reducing water pollution. It's a natural cellulose fiber, can achieve natural degradation in the soil, and it won't cause any pollution to the environment."

It is a challenge to source affordable, attractive organic, environmentally friendly fabrics, but we are trying to lobby our regular suppliers to consider expanding in that direction. As we produce more items made from eco-friendly materials, we will add them to the catalog. Often these items cost a more than their conventional counterparts.

We also make every attempt to recycle printer cartridges, print mostly on recycled paper, recycle batteries, use minimal packing materials, walk packages to the post office, and work from home (no commuting by car to work!). We hire production associates who live nearby to keep production-related car travel to a minimum.

We urge you to recycle and reuse the packing materials when possible and to regift or resell your gently used Posh Papoose items.

We strive to offer more eco-friendly products and implement more eco-friendly practices into our business. Check out the Posh Papoose blog for updates on our progress!
