Following these guidelines should help preserve the quality of your Posh Papoose® for more than one child. After you've been using your sling for a while, especially if you wash it frequently and/or live in a very sunny area, please inspect the weave for signs of wear, holes, etc. With proper care, it should last a long time in good condition.

General Washing Tips

• Gentle wash with cool water, no bleaches or fabric softeners. Tumble dry low for a few minutes, then air dry on a drying rack. Silk can be washed with a gentle shampoo and ironed on the reverse side.
  
• Smooth out the brim on hats when air drying. Your child's head will stretch out the main part of the hat when she or he wears it. 

Shrinkage 

• Please note our fabrics are not pre-washed and may shrink up to 3 - 10% in length if washed and/or dried with high heat.
  

Fabrics

• Our fabrics are not treated with flame retardant chemicals.
• ALL natural fibers will wrinkle with use and washing.
  
• Fabric may wrinkle during washing & drying. You can air dry it flat or spread out, or tumble dry low until damp and then air dry flat or spread out.
• If you wish, you can steam iron on medium heat to restore smoothness. Test a small corner first to make sure your iron doesn't mark the fabric.
• When not in use, store your Posh Papoose® in a dry, shaded area. Do NOT store it in a sunny or moist area. Too much sun will fatigue and fade fabrics. Moist air or morning dew may cause mildew. If you leave your sling on the seat of your car or on top of a stroller, cover it or tuck it into a dark corner.

Ironing Tips

• You can safely steam iron most fabrics with high heat.
• Iron on the reverse side to avoid marking or staining.
• Make sure iron surface is clean.
• Distilled water is recommended for most irons, but you can flush out calcium deposits left by hard water by using a dilute white vinegar solution in the steam chamber.
• Test iron in a small corner or on another piece of fabric first to make sure your iron won’t leave a scorch mark.

Cotton Ring Slings

• Spot clean for best results. Hand wash or machine wash (delicate cycle) cool to warm in a gentle detergent. No chlorine bleach or fabric softener.
  
• Batting in the side rails may shift or shrink a little during machine wash or hot dryer.
• For best results, air dry, or tumble dry low. All fabrics last longer when you spare them the heat of the dryer.
• Steam iron medium setting - optional.
  

Silk Slings & Hats

• Spot clean, hand wash or delicate cycle with cool water. You can use a gentle hair shampoo and conditioner.
• Air dry.
• Steam iron  on reverse side (med - high) to restore smoothness and luster. (See notes on ironing at the top)
• Please note: silk slings will show some wear with use and washing. The fabric will slub and wrinkle a bit, but it will remain lovely and usable. If you want sling to remain as pristine as possible, have it professionally cleaned by an eco-friendly dry cleaner.

Bamboo Slings

Machine wash cold gentle cycle, no chlorine-bleach, no fabric softener.  Tumble dry low, then air dry.  Bamboo will wrinkle a little, but you can iron it after. Medium steam iron if necessary. Test iron first to make sure it won't mark or scorch the fabric.

Hats

• Gentle to medium wash, spot wash or hand wash.
• Handwash all Silk Hats in cool water with shampoo. Air dry and iron to restore shape and sheen.
• Air dry or tumble dry low. You can place a rolled up towel inside the hat to restore shape and smooth out brim when air drying. Remember, all natural fibers will wrinkle a little bit with use and washing. Our hats are soft for comfort and breathability. We only use lightweight interfacing in the brim to give shape. Your child's head will fill out the shape of the hat.
• Steam iron brim to restore smoothness, if desired.
• We put our label on the dominant print for marketing purposes. You are welcome to snip it off if you don't like it. 

Playmats / Quilts

• Gentle cool or warm wash or spot clean. Air dry or tumble dry low. Steam iron to restore smoothness, if desired.

Plush Blankets

• Hand wash, spot clean, or gentle cool to warm wash. Air dry or tumble dry low.

Swaddling Blankets

• Hand wash, spot clean, or gentle cool to warm wash. Air dry or tumble dry low. Expect up to 10% shrinkage of bamboo/ organic cotton blends if washed & dried with high heat.

Onesies / T-shirts / Clothing

• Gentle cool or warm wash or spot clean. Use oxygen-bleach or borax for stain removal. Air dry or tumble dry low. Expect a small percentage of shrinkage if washed & dried with high heat.

Diaper & Wipes Pouches, Totes, Bags

I have machine washed a diaper kit sample on a gentle cycle and it came out mostly fine, if a little wrinkled. However, for best results, here are the guidelines from the supplier of our 100% cotton batting that we used in our diaper kit changing pads and bags:

• Hand wash with mild detergent
• Roll in a towel to remove excess water
• Air dry flat. Iron safe.
